Mit den zunehmenden Aktivitäten der Europäischen Gemeinschaft im Bereich der Forschung und Technologie muss die Schweiz als Nicht-Mitgliedsstaat den Gefahren einer Marginalisierung entgegenwirken. Die Schweiz beteiligt sich am Forschungsförderungsprogramm zur Stimulierung der internationalen Zusammenarbeit für europäische Forscher (SCIENCE) der EG.
