Protection of the American and British interests in Japan and Japanese occupied territories. Brief outline of the main activities of the Swiss Legation
Memorandum (aide-mémoire) (M)
Switzerland oversaw the interests of 20 countries in Japan during World War 2, especially the USA, United Kingdom, and the British Commonwealth. The most considerable activities of the legislation were in respect to the protection of prisoners of war and civilian internees. Concerning the protection of the foreign interests in Manchukuo and the occupied territories, the Japanese Government took the stand, that Switzerland could not do so, with a few exceptions.
