The teen-ager exchange program

Private american organizations inaugurated the first exchange programs. The United States Government began to participate in 1949. The Department of State took over this activity in 1950. In 1958/59, the Government plans to end all individual grants. In order to maintain the exchangee programs, it has contracted four different agencies.
