SOC Actions Concerning Assinovskaya Rape

After a Chechen resident of Assinovskaya had been beaten up and raped allegedly by Federal troops, the Special Observer's Commission and the victim were flown out by helicopter for a medical exam. The members of the OSCE Assistance Group encountered hostile attitudes from the Federal officer along the way and the evidence-taking took place with numerous delays and complications. The Chechen representatives expressed their deep gratitude nonetheless.
