At the plenary meeting of the MTCR in Interlaken, it was agreed that South Africa could be a new member in the near future. Ambassador Jeker visited RSA in his function as Chairman of the MTCR after the April 1994 elections. South Africa's political commitment to non-proliferation seems to be very strong.
