Winston Spencer-Churchill, member of the British Parliament, asks the Swiss government to grant political asylum to Yuri Povarnitzine, a previous Soviet POW interned in Switzerland. The Soviet citizen would face death before a firing squad because he is very highly critical of his government's actions in Afghanistan.
