Carl Lutz, former Swiss Consul in Budapest, is being thanked for saving several thousand Jews from death in Nazi camps: “The Jewish Agency would like you to know that you will always be remembered in our annals as one of the relatively few men who had the honesty and courage to stand up to our persecutors.”
