The Board was convened to discuss the first Article IV Consulation Uzbekistan. Most directors shared the very severe and negative staff's assessment and appraisal. They were disappointed by the lack of progress toward macroeconomic stabilization and structural reforms. Director Kaeser on his side stressed that the transition in Uzbekistan has to be performed in a very difficult environment.
