Swiss export trade. Norton (Britische Gesandtschaft Bern) an Ministry of Economic Warefare, 10.5.1945:
"My United States colleague an I would be grateful for authority to inform the Swiss that (as in the case of France and Belgium) we no longer regard Holland as being restricted by the agreement of December 1943 as subsequently modified.
2. We should also appreciate your early instrutions for taking similar action in the case of such liberated territories as you may specify. We believe there is an advantage in showing the Swiss that we are anxious to remove the restrictions on their export trade as early and as generously as possible where this can be done without prejudice to our interests. Subject to this considerations we suggest that C.O.I. and EXPAS facilities should be granted free for liberated territories on the understanding that this creates no commitments as to the grant of import licences, means of payment or transport facilities."
