designations as well as bibliographical references (more...). The first series of DDS (1848-1945) is online. The Bibliography
relating to the history of Swiss foreign policy hasn’t been
updated since 2001, given that the new references are henceforth
integrated in the database abbreviated by BIB. Major events from
the years 1945-1961 are accompanied by pictures.

Die Online-Datenbank dodis.ch der Forschungsstelle Diplomatische Dokumente der Schweiz (DDS) ist neu beim europäischen Internetportal Europeana.eu dabei.

Seit 2010 bieten die DDS Forschungspraktika für Studierende an. Es bestehen Vereinbarungen mit verschiedenen Schweizer Universitäten, die Liste der Kooperationspartner wird fortlaufend ergänzt.

The database Dodis now offers direct access to its content. Each entity in Dodis (documents, persons, organizations or geographic names) has a permalink (What is this?) allowing direct access to the information needed – with just one click, avoiding the ‘search-mask’. Thus, users have an efficient and quick instrument at their disposal, which also simplifies quoting sources from dodis.ch in their researches.
Example: “cf. the note of June 29 1962 (dodis.ch/30724) by the Federal Counselor F.T. Wahlen (dodis.ch/P1047) on the meeting of the Swiss Federal Council’s delegation for economical and financial questions (dodis.ch/R515)”.

30-10-09Jean-François Bergier dies
On Thursday, October 29 2009, Jean-Fraçois Bergier has died at the age of 77. The historian, who specialized in economic and social history, was particularly known in connection with the independent commission of experts Switzerland – Second World War (ICE) which he chaired from 1996 until 2001. The professor in history at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zürich had been a member of the commission for the publication of the Diplomatic Documents of Switzerland (DDS) from 1979 until 1999. Additionally, together with André Jäggi and Marc Perrenoud Bergier was responsible for the publication of DDS volume 13 (covering the years 1939-1940), published in 1991.

The media covered the passing of the famous Swiss historian extensively. In a radio interview, Sacha Zala, director of the DDS and Marc Perrenoud, academic researcher and former ICE collaborator, provide information about their deceased colleague: TSR, RSR, RSI.
